    Ophir devices (Centauri, StarBright, StarLite, Juno, Juno+, Vega, Nova II, Pulsar and USBI) can also be used through a COM object control. This allows system integrators to integrate Ophir measurement capabilities with legacy analysis packages.  StarLab registers the COM object components as part of the installation process of the StarLab application.     LabVIEW COM Demo demonstrates USB communication with Ophir devices in the LabVIEW environment. Making use of our new COM object (distributed with StarLab 2.10 and higher), this package can take control of our Centauri, StarBright, StarLite, Juno, Juno+, Vega, Nova II, Pulsar and USBI devices.  LabVIEW COM Demo provides: A fully functional demo application A block diagram structure that is easily understood that will be the end-user’s basis for customization and adaptation. Since it is a fully functional application, this frees the LabVIEW programmer to concentrate on his application, leaving the communication details to us.   Note:LabVIEW COM Demo makes use of the Ophir COM object that is included with StarLab. After StarLab has been downloaded and installed the LabVIEW COM Demo will be installed in the Automation Examples subdirectory of StarLab.     Note: Ophir provides this for legacy installations. For new development, we highly recommend working with our COM Object based package that can be found here. Ophir LabVIEW VIs - Version 5.00. "Ophinstr" is Ophir's library of LabVIEW VIs that gives a complete measurement interface with Ophir's Juno, Vega, Nova II, USBI and Single Channel LaserStar devices.Note: Juno support is for Thermopile and Photodiode sensors only. The Ophinstr library was developed in LabVIEW 8.6.1. REMINDER: To work with LabVIEW, NI-VISA 4.6.2 or higher (from National Instruments) must also be installed. See here for compatibility chart between versions of NI-VISA and LabVIEW. When working with Windows XP For all versions of Windows after XP, just install the package and it works. For working with this package on Windows XP it is necessary to run the SwapINF utility that we provide and can be reached here The SwapINF utility configures Windows XP to associate the Ophir device with NI VISA’s USB driver when LabVIEW is selected. It configures Windows XP to associate the Ophir device with the appropriate Ophir USB drivers (windrvr6.sys) when StarLab is selected. REMINDER: To work with LabVIEW, NI-VISA 4.6.2 or higher (from National Instruments) must also be installed. Download and run SwapINF . Follow the on-screen instructions to configure the USB speaking device (Juno, USBI, Vega or Nova II) for LabVIEW or StarLab PC work as desired.     Download OphInstr

    This document is an updated and detailed description of the various commands that are used for remote control of Ophir meters. For each command, we list which devices support the command as well as providing examples when necessary and listing limitations, as applicable. Note: All commands work in an ASCII-based command and response protocol. As such, data delivery rates will not be as high as when working with the standard data streaming methods provided by the COM object. Therefore, for top performance, we recommend fully embracingworking with the COM Object. However, if there is a need to support legacy code, or RS232 communication, this is here for you.
