COM Object

Besides their use as standalone, fully featured laser power/energy meters, Ophir devices (Centauri, StarBright, StarLite, Juno, Juno+, Vega, Nova II, Pulsar and USBI) can also be used through a COM object control. This allows system integrators to integrate Ophir measurement capabilities with legacy analysis packages

Is StarLab compatible with Windows 10?

Yes, StarLab 3.40 and higher is compatible with Windows 7 / 8 / 10 - 32 & 64 bit. For more information and to download, see the StarLab page

オフィール社のStarComスターコムは比較的古いコンピュータアプリケションで、USBではなくRS232C通信を行うための基盤ソフトウェアです。(RS232C通信対応機種はVega、NovaII、LaserStar、LaserStar-dual、Novaです。)

Do I need to uninstall Previous releases of StarLab when upgrading to the newest StarLab?

When installing StarLab, there is usually no need to uninstall or delete Previous StarLab releases, although it might be best in order to avoid confusion between the StarLab versions, and to keep the PC clean and tidy.

 

If you'd like to uninstall the old version, it's best to do so before installing the new StarLab release. If you uninstall a previous release of StarLab, after installing the new StarLab, you might need to re-register the drivers (and COM object if using it) via "Registration" under the StarLab options menu gear:

Note:
Uninstalling previous releases of StarLab will remove the files and folder names created when the previous StarLab was originally installed, but will leave/preserve other files and folders with other names created by the user (such as log files or COM automation code files) even if left in the previous StarLab folders, as long as the files were saved under a name other than the original demo codes we supplied.

StarLabスターラボソフトウェア バージョン3.00にバージョンアップしたところ、使用していたNovaIIディスプレイで対応できなくなりました。どうすればよいですか?

NovaIIディスプレイのファームウェアをバージョンアップすればご使用頂けます。StarLabパッケージの中に含まれていますので、単にField Upgrade dialogをエンターしてください。

How to download and work with StarLab?

To install StarLab on your PC please do the following:

  • Download StarLab V3.40(94.2 MB)
  • Run the file and follow the on-screen instructions
  • After installation is completed, StarLab can be run from your computer

Note: StarLab must be installed with Administrator privileges

How can I communicate with an Ophir instrument using a Linux machine?

All Ophir RS232-speaking instruments can communicate with a Linux machine. There is no dependence on which operating system is being used on the other side – it’s a simple command and response protocol.

Programmers wanting to use commands via RS232 to control and collect data from an Ophir instrument need to refer to Appendix A in the “StarCom” User Manual - ‘Guide to Programmers’ section. This can be downloaded from the “Download – Manuals” section of our website, https://www.ophiropt.com/laser-measurement-instruments/laser-power-energy-meters/services/manuals

We have recently developed a package that enables USB communication with our meters from a Linux machine. It is now in beta-testing and has been released to several selected users. If you'd like to get this package, please contact us.

How do you zoom in on a log you’ve taken with StarLab?

Open StarLab and click on File and Open. Select the log file you want to open and click Open. This will load the log file into StarLab. Now to zoom in to a specific section click and hold on the area to the left side of the area you want to zoom in on. Drag the mouse curser to the right as far as you want the section to zoom in on and release the mouse button. You can continue to zoom in in this same way. If you need to zoom out, click and hold anywhere in the zoomed in area and drag to the left and release. It will zoom all the way out. 詳細を見る

Accessing Vega log files with StarLab

Occasionally it is not possible to measure a laser system directly using StarLab. This can be because the laser system is in a controlled environment where a computer is unable to be installed. The Vega handheld meter can store up to 10 log files into its onboard memory containing up to 5,400 samples each for a total of 54,000 samples. Then the meter can be interfaced to a computer running StarLab to upload the files later.  詳細を見る
