Sometimes the best career paths are the ones you don’t plan. That’s exactly how Yael Grosman found her way to Ophir.

Yael, how did your journey with Ophir begin?
I arrived at Ophir by chance. My husband was doing his final project for his engineering degree here, and I was working at another company. One day, he mentioned they were looking for a secretary. On my way to work, I decided to drop off my resume at the reception. That very same day, they called me back, sent me to take assessment exams, and… the rest is history.

What was your career path like once you joined?
I started as a receptionist, which gave me a great introduction to the company. After several years, I was promoted to be the CEO’s secretary for a few months. Then I moved to the logistics and maintenance department as a secretary. Later, I joined the purchasing department in a supply tracking role. Over time, I specialized as a purchaser and eventually became a senior manager, my current role as Senior Buyer and Planner.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love the challenge of finding hard-to-find electronic components, especially those that are out of stock, discontinued, or have very long lead times of 100 to 300 days. Tracking them down, negotiating for them, and making sure they get here on time is extremely satisfying.

How do certain actions you have taken improve customers’ work processes?

During daily operations, and especially in times of component shortages and allocations, I work to advance delivery dates, so materials reach the production department on time. I also focus on finding authorized suppliers and ensuring that the components they provide are original and meet required standards.

What does your role involve on a daily basis?
My work connects me directly to the electronic components market, manufacturers, suppliers, and their sales representatives. I spend a lot of time researching, sourcing, and maintaining relationships to ensure we always get the components we need, when we need them.

Looking back, what stands out most from your time at Ophir?
That a simple decision to drop off my resume has led to such a meaningful career. I’ve had the opportunity to grow, take on new challenges, and become part of projects that really matter. It’s been quite a journey, and I’m proud of where it brought me.
