well for most people.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s an age-old decision when it comes to getting a job done: difficult, but quick or slow and steady.\u00a0 As Phil Keoghan likes to say about \u201cspeed bump\u201d challenges in The Amazing Race: \u201cChallenge X is very difficult, but those who get the hang of it might find themselves speeding ahead.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing hard about Challenge Y, but it may take longer to complete.\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s easy to claim that one or the other is the right way.\u00a0 In truth, though, it usually depends on the specific situation.<\/p>\n<p>The same choice comes up when deciding how to measure M<sup>2<\/sup>.\u00a0<!--more--> In this case, one must choose between an instantaneous measurement and a fully automated one.\u00a0 The question is: do you want to take the time to carefully set up the device or would you prefer to let the machine do the work for you (sacrificing time later on)?\u00a0 I\u2019ll outline both approaches so you can see how and why they\u2019re different.\u00a0 However, you might want to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ophiropt.com\/en\/n\/what-is-m-squared\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">refresh your memory<\/a> about M<sup>2<\/sup> in general first.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ophiropt.com\/en\/c\/m2-beam-analyzers\" target=\"_blank\" --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 270\/144;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This revolutionary device saves not only time, but also expense and space.\u00a0 Most M<sup>2<\/sup> measurement instruments contain an optical train for the sensor to move on, since multiple measurements along the beam are required to calculate M<sup>2<\/sup>.\u00a0 Photon\u2019s clever solution with the M<sup>2<\/sup>-1780 was that carefully placed mirrors can measure different parts of the beam instantaneously and without any movement of the detector.\u00a0 This simultaneously saves a lot of time (measurement takes seconds instead of minutes) and space.\u00a0 Additionally, as moving parts are unnecessary, this model is lighter and less expensive than most others.<\/p>\n<p>The trade-off here is that it\u2019s a little harder to set up than other methods (see below), and good results depend on a proper configuration.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ophiropt.com\/en\/c\/beamsquared-m2-beam-analyzers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">M<sup>2<\/sup>-200S \u2013 Take it easy:<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/M2-200S.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2686 aligncenter lazyload\" title=\"M2-200S\" data-src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/M2-200S-300x146.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"131\" --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 270\/131;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One will need to wait a couple of minutes for a result, since this device actually measures M-squared at physically different spots on the beam.\u00a0 He will be rewarded, however, by results whose accuracy is second to none.\u00a0 Additionally, the M<sup>2<\/sup>-200s is fully automated, so you don\u2019t need to worry about setup at all.<\/p>\n<p>Just like in The Amazing Race, you will need to decide between easy and fast.\u00a0 What would you choose?<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps what Yogi meant was that either direction must take you somewhere, so don\u2019t worry too much about which way to go.\u00a0 Just take the fork.\u00a0 Although there are pros and cons to both choices, there\u2019s ultimately no bad decision.\u00a0 What do
