{"id":10812,"date":"2022-08-03T11:00:12","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T11:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ophiropt.com\/blog\/laser-measurement\/?p=10812"},"modified":"2026-03-18T12:56:32","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T12:56:32","slug":"integrating-power-measurements-into-your-software-application-with-the-ophir-com-object","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ophiropt.com\/blog\/integrating-power-measurements-into-your-software-application-with-the-ophir-com-object\/","title":{"rendered":"Integrating Power Measurements Into Your Software Application With the Ophir Com Object"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ophir\u2019s renowned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ophiropt.com\/en\/g\/starlab-for-usb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">StarLab<\/a> software is an easy-to-use, yet powerful, laser measurement application which turns a PC into a laser power\/energy multi-channel analysis workstation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, StarLab is a ready-made closed PC application and communicates with Ophir Power Meters and PC Interfaces only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s say you are a software programmer developing an application\nfor a system in which you would like to integrate measurement and control of several\ninstruments, together with the power measurements of a laser, into one PC application\nthat you write custom made for your own specific needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this purpose, we provide the Ophir <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ophiropt.com\/en\/g\/com-object\"><strong>COM Object Automation<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> which\nfacilitates integrating laser power meter measurements into your software application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the StarLab application is installed, it automatically\ninstalls the necessary Ophir USB device drivers &amp; registers the COM object\non the PC.
