They were searching for reliable test and measurement\nequipment they could use in order to be sure their new SLM laser was\nfunctioning correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In particular, they were interested to monitor their system for unusual focal shift, increased waist diameter, and  M<sup>2<\/sup> (beam quality) parameters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ophir field service engineers showed them <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ophiropt.com\/en\/f\/beamwatch-am-laser-measurement\">BeamWatch AM,<\/a> which is a compact version of BeamWatch designed specifically for additive manufacturing use cases. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ophiropt.com\/en\/f\/beamwatch-am-laser-measurement\">BeamWatch AM<\/a> uses Rayleigh scattering to monitor the entire beam caustic in real time (at video rates).
