StarCom Fixes

• Difficulties when installing StarCom 3.03 on Windows 95
  During installation user is informed of DLL error:
  Setup.exe is linked to missing export OLEAUTO32.DLL:185.
  If installationis continued (by clicking OK) the following message appears:
  A device attached to the system is not functioning.
  
  Reason
  StarCom 3.03 is written in Visual Basic 6. Older versions of Windows 95 do not fully support Visual Basic 6.
  
  Solutions
  

  1.	Microsoft preferred solution is to download VBRun60sp5.exe from http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290887.
  2.	Use version 2.06 if you are not working with RP head.
  3.	If you must work with Windows 95, upgrade to OSR2. Tests have shown that StarCom 3.03 can be installed and run on this platform.

• Difficulties when installing StarCom in Windows 2000

  1.	During setup the following message appears: "Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you now. You will need to restart Windows before you can run setup again. Click cancel to exit setup without updating system files".
  2.	After Clicking OK, Windows 2000 restarts.
  3.	When installing after the restart the same error message appears.

  
  
  Solution: This is a known Visual Basic bug. Microsoft recommends upgrading your Windows 2000 with the latest Service Pack (3)

• Difficulties in StarCom32 3.00.
  When connnecting to the COM port, the following message appears: "Run-time error 13: Type mismatch"
  
  Solution:
  Download StarCom32 3.03.

• Help with common installation difficulties.
  Note that there is an installation icon and after the install is run then you get the application icon which is the one to be used for running the program.

  Click OK, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
  After the machine is rebooted, re-run the star303.exe program.
