Laser Power Sensors
As described in the general introduction, the thermopile sensor has a series of bimetallic junctions. A temperature difference between any two junctions causes a voltage to be formed between the two junctions. Since the junctions are in series and the «hot» junctions are always on the inner, hotter side, and the «cold» junctions are on the outer, cooler side, radial heat flow on the disc causes a voltage proportional to the power input. Laser power impinges on the center of the thermopile sensor disk (on the reverse side of the thermopile), flows radially and is cooled on the periphery.
Laser Power Sensors introduction»
BeamTrack series Thermal Sensors 100µW to 150W
Thermal sensors that measure laser power and single shot energy like standard thermal sensors but in addition measure laser beam position and laser size. Will measure laser beam position to 0.1mm accuracy and laser size measurement of a gaussian beam to +/-5% accuracy. Measuring laser position is important for laser alignment where the laser position sensor can provide feedback to the laser position control.
Standard Photodiode Sensors - 10pW to 3W
Ophir's Laser Measurement Photodiode PD-300 sensor series measures laser power with spectral coverage from 200nm – 1800nm, and automatic background subtraction so the laser measurement is not sensitive to room light. All models have wavelength calibration built into the system.
Round Photodiode Sensors – 20pW to 3W
Ophir's Laser Measurement Round Photodiode sensor series measures laser power similar to the standard photodiode sensors where cylindrical geometry is preferable. Fits SM-1 threads.
Special Photodiode Sensors
Integrating spheres for measuring laser power of divergent beams, flat response sensors for broadband sources, eye response detectors for Lux measurements, peak detector for measuring scanned or chopped laser beams. FPS-1 sensor for measuring temporal laser response into oscilloscope with 1ns response time.
High Sensitivity Thermal Laser Sensors – 30uW to 12W
Very low noise and drift thermal laser measurement sensors accurately measure low laser powers over a wide range of wavelengths. Will also measure low single shot laser energies down to tens of uJ.
Low Power Thermal Sensors – 20mW to 50W
Ophir has the widest selection of laser power measurement sensors for low average laser powers in the industry, pulsed or continuous laser sources and various beam sizes.
Low-medium power thermal sensors - apertures 17 to 35mm, 30mW-150W
Laser measurement sensors for low laser powers or intermittent use up to higher powers for pulsed or CW lasers.
Medium Power Thermal Sensors – apertures 50mm to 65mm, 100mW to 300W
Laser power sensors for larger beams and higher laser powers. Compact laser measurement sensors for intermittent use.
Medium-High Power Fan Cooled Thermal Sensors -50mW to 500W
Compact fan cooled Laser measurement sensors for continuous use at higher laser powers
High Power Water Cooled Thermal Laser Measurement Sensors And Power Pucks - 1W – 10KW
High Power Water Cooled and Fan Cooled Laser Beam Dumps
Laser beam dumps for highest laser power for laser processing, laser measurement and other applications
Comet Portable Laser Power Probes
The low cost Comet power probes are perfect for laser job shops. These laser power sensors give simple and accurate power laser measurements up to 10KW and 10KW/cm²
The StarLink Power Sensor Series
The StarLink series is a select group of Ophir power sensors that are provided with the Ophir Juno USB PC interface attached. The StarLink sensor is connected via a USB cable to the PC USB port and can then operate directly with the PC with no need for an Ophir power meter.
