Jerusalem, Israel, 1 June 2015 – Ophir Optics, a leading designer and manufacturer of precision infrared and laser optics, will demonstrate its Fiberlens™, a series of innovative collimating lenses, focusing lenses and protective windows for use with high-power fiber lasers, at the LASER World of PHOTONICS Exposition 2015 in Munich from June 22 - 25.

The Fiberlens™ series, which are designed for use with high-power fiber and disk lasers, feature extremely low absorption fused silica substrates and high laser-damage-threshold, long-lifetime, low-absorption anti-reflection coatings on the lenses and windows. Absorption is extremely low at < 50 parts per million (ppm), ensuring the highest cutting quality when using multi-kilowatt fiber, disk, and YAG lasers. Low absorption ensures that Ophir optics avoid phenomena such as thermal lensing and focus shift, which degrade cutting quality and cutting speed.

To guarantee the high quality and low absorption in its one micron laser optics, Ophir Optics is using a PRIMES Optical Quality Monitor (OQM) to measure the absorption rate of its lenses and windows. The OQM, which measures the temperature rise of the optics when exposed to one micron laser radiation, can reliably and accurately measure extremely low absorption levels.

Ophir Optics will also demonstrate its innovative High Reflection (HR) laser mirror coating, which was developed for use in high-power CO2 laser resonators and beam delivery systems. It offers superior performance for cavity optics, reflecting >99.9% for maximum laser energy and enabling S-polarization locking.

The use of coatings like HR is a cost-effective way to maximize reflection, improve performance with high durability mirror surfaces, and prolong product life while delivering superior cutting quality. Ophir’s OEM-approved HR coating delivers higher reflection than standard coatings at CO2 laser 10.6 micron wavelength.

A fiber lens and window one micron optic for industrial lasers are to be introduced to the Chinese market by Ophir Optics, an Israeli company, a leading designer and manufacturer of precision infrared and laser optics.

The fiberlensTM one micron optic unit, which includes a high quality low absorption, protective window to protect the optic from damage, is designed for use in cutting and welding in industrial applications.

“Due to its high quality and durability it is particularly suited to use in high quality and high power industrial applications,” said Mr. Wei Wan, Ophir Sales Manager in China. “Its high quality and value will be showcased at the Shenzhen International Machinery Manufacturing Industry Exhibition from 30 March to 2 April. Ophir’s High Reflection coating represents a superior solution for beam delivery and cavity optics used in high-power CO2 laser systems.  

The use of coatings like HR is a cost-effective way to maximize reflection, improve performance, protect highly-sensitive mirror surfaces and prolong product life for superior cutting.

PLM-HR Mirror Coating provides optimized S-Pol reflection (>99.90% for S-Pol), with low enough P-Pol reflection (<93% P-Pol) to enable effective phase locking while still reflecting Maximum reflection at the desired S Polarization

It is internal cavity radiation resistant, suitable for both Cu and Si mirrors and can be used in a variety of different resonator type.

MMR-p coating is a cost-effective way to maximize reflection (>99.90% for S-Pol), improve performance, protect highly-sensitive mirror surfaces and prolong product life.

OEM-approved MMR-P coating provides the highest total random reflection available with superior P reflection (>99.80%) and total random reflection (>99.85%) and is suitable for both Cu and Si mirrors.

This coating is internal cavity radiation resistant and allows for a phase shift tolerance of ±2@45° and >70% reflection for 630-670nm, for superior cutting and cleaning capabilities.

MMRp coating is used as a supiorior quality replacement for ZERO Phase Shift, Total reflection mirrors within the cavity as its cost is only slightly higher than standard ZPS / ZPS HR coatings

Jerusalem, Israel, September 9, 2014   – Ophir Optics, a Newport company, announced today that its CO2 Laser Optics unit has developed EZ Clean Plus™, an innovative wipe used for deeper cleaning of CO2 laser lenses in conjunction with basic EZ Clean™ Wipes, which are used for more routine cleaning.

Composed of special non-scratch fabric, EZ Clean™ Wipes deposit a pre-measured amount of ethanol, which is ideal for routine cleaning of laser lenses. When deeper cleaning is required, EZ Clean™ Plus wipes are used to counteract the quick-drying effect of the ethanol with a vinegar-based solution that separates contaminants from the lens surface more effectively. A final once-over with the basic wipe is required to remove any vinegar residue and the lens is ready for use in a matter of seconds. Ophir’s CO2 Optics Division is producing 40mm & 50mm replacement lenses with embedded RFID chip for TRUMPF Machines

TRUMPF, a world leader in industrial lasers and laser system technology, selected Ophir’s CO2 Optics Division to provide replacement lenses for its latest 40mm & 50mm lenses with an embedded radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip. The chip, which is comparable in size to a single grain of rice, wirelessly transfers data over electromagnetic fields.

The RFID chip embedded in the new 40mm & 50mm lenses communicates with an integrated system that can monitor the condition of the lens. With alerts on detected contamination, laser operators can now clean or replace a lens before there is a cutting problem, thus averting unnecessary laser downtime and poor cutting quality.
