Job Description:
Ophir Optics, a world leader in providing advanced IR Optics for imaging systems solutions to government, aerospace and commercial markets, at our new state of the art manufacturing facility in Wilmington, MA. We are seeking a highly motivated, purchasing professional for the procurement of technical, general materials and supplies for our Massachusetts facility.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
 |
Receive requirements for production materials from Planning, Control and Production |
 |
Knowledge of catalogs, reference materials and databases to advise requestors on sources, descriptions and delivery prior to submission of a purchase request |
 |
Review purchase request for accuracy and compliance with company policy and procedures |
 |
Select suppliers to meet total cost of ownership goals |
 |
Negotiate best prices, terms and delivery of specified items for annual buys from domestic and international Suppliers |
 |
Initiates, documents and processes change orders |
 |
Coordinates delivery and receipt of material with warehouse personnel and resolve discrepancies |
 |
Ensures that buying activities are in accordance with company procedures |
 |
Experienced in the use of MRP and Database programs |
 |
Follow ISO procedures and methods so that ISO certification is maintained |
Specific Requirements/Qualifications:
 |
Experience and expertise in negotiating prices, terms and delivery with domestic and international vendors |
 |
Must be comfortable communicating with internal customers and managers as well as external suppliers |
 |
Must be highly motivated and team oriented |
 |
Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally, as required. |

Superior knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Access |
 |
Experience in on-line purchasing |
 |
Planning experience using tools such as MRP and related tools in Oracle, Man Man or SAP |
 |
Creative problem solver |
 |
Bachelor’s Degree required with experience in a manufacturing or materials management related department |
 |
3-5 years of related experience in purchasing mechanical parts and supplier negotiation |

3-5 years of related experience utilizing MRP reports to plan and manage parts requirements |

Opto-Mechanical Engineer
Summary Description:This engineering position is responsible for the mechanical design, analysis and simulation; develop concepts and solutions to customer requirements; for standard and custom IR opto-mechanical products used in military and commercial applications. A lead contributor on a multi-disciplinary team in the development and fabrication of optics at the component and subsystem level. This position reports to the President.
Objectives:
As the Opto-Mechanical Engineer at OOI, you will design the mechanical IR components, assemblies and systems for standard products and customers requirements. Serve as the technical expert for assigned projects for precision opto-mechanical design, analysis and simulation.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Developing designs based on customer inputs and requests. |
 |
Develop manufacturing cost models. |
 |
Prepare product design verification test plans. |
 |
Execute tests that verify designs meet requirements. |
 |
Lead problem solving and troubleshooting assignments for manufacturing and customer problem resolution. |
 |
Follow ISO procedures and methods so that we maintain ISO certification. |
 |
Work effectively with other members of the Ophir team in both the U.S. and Israel |
 |
As requested, complete special assignments for OOI’s president |

Specific Requirements /Qualifications:
 |
Degree in Mechanical Engineering with strong core courses in the fundamentals. |
 |
7-10 years related experience in the mechanical design of high stability opto-mechanical packaging, including kinematic mounting and precision adjustment and alignment. |
 |
Proficiency with CAD and FEA modeling and drafting standards required. |
 |
Excellent people skills and strong written and verbal communication skills. |
 |
Ability to apply basic principals of mechanical engineering to formulate new concepts and solutions in product development for IR cells and systems applications. |
 |
Knowledge in machining process and characterization required. |
 |
Willingness and ability to perform “hands-on” technical work in a laboratory environment involving metrology, optical alignment, testing and data collection. |
 |
Organized, with strong technical and computer skills. (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint) |
 |
Ability to establish and meet product design cost goals and meet schedule commitments. |
 |
Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to provide clear, concise technical presentations. |

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated, Quality Assurance Engineer for our operation in Wilmington.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Position will participate as detailed below and as required:

Quality Planning with thorough knowledge of inspection methods in the design, fabrication and assembly of optics and optical mechanical assemblies |
 |
Design and implement methods and procedures for the inspection and test of optics and optical mechanical assemblies |
 |
Implement SPC tools and techniques internal to Ophir as well as with our suppliers as required |
 |
Analyze reports and returned product (RMA) providing recommended corrective actions. |
 |
Support all inspection related service activities to include calibration, MRB, Ship to Stock, etc. |
 |
Maintain product files so contents are accurate, legible, neat, and are ready for audit (Ophir, DNV or Customer) at any point in the build process. |
Specific Requirements:
 |
Must possess the ability to operate an interferometer and interpret interferograms |
 |
Must possess working knowledge of spherical, aspheric and diffractive optics |
 |
Must possess working knowledge of MIL standards and specifications that are used in the optics industry |
 |
Must have experience working with precision machined parts and processes as well as inspection techniques |
 |
Optical/Mechanical commodity experience preferred |
 |
Must have experience using PPAP’s, FMEA’s and APQP |
 |
Working knowledge of ISO 9001-2000 and TS 16949 |
 |
Good interpersonal skills. Ability to interact positively with co-workers, suppliers and customers |
 |
Team player with the ability and desire to participate in the professional exchange of technology, ideas and techniques with co-workers |
 |
Proficient working in the MS Windows environment using Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc. |
